🍵 How to Make a Warm Uji Decaf Matcha Latte

Creamy, smooth, and completely caffeine-free, perfect for any time of day.

🧡 Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prep your tools.
Soak your bamboo whisk (chasen) in warm water for a minute to soften the prongs and prevent breakage.

Sift the matcha.
Measure 3 grams (2 level teaspoons) of AIKO’s Uji Decaf Matcha and sift into your matcha bowl to prevent clumps.

Add water.
Pour in 40 mL (2.5 Tablespoons) of hot water at 80°C / 175°F - the ideal temp to preserve flavor and nutrients.

Start slow.
Gently stamp and swirl the whisk to dissolve the powder and prevent it from flying up or clumping.

Whisk with purpose - the 30-20-10 method:

30 seconds: Whisk briskly in a zig-zag motion (M or W shape)

20 seconds: Slightly lift the whisk and slow your motion

10 seconds: Finish by gliding the whisk gently across the surface to smooth and pop any large bubbles

Assemble your latte.
Pour the matcha into your favorite mug and top with 120 mL (~1/2 cup) of warm or frothed milk (dairy or plant-based).

Sweeten if desired.
Optional: Add a touch of your preferred sweetener - but we recommend trying it as-is first. Our decaf matcha is naturally less bitter and has a gentle, nutty finish.
