Japanese matcha tools with modern, stone-glazed ceramics designed for precision, balance, and mindful preparation.
The softly speckled ash-grey glaze and creamy interior create a calm, earthy aesthetic while each piece serves a specific purpose in achieving a smooth, well-balanced bowl of matcha.

What’s included & how to use it
Matcha Bowl (Chawan)
A wide, open bowl designed specifically for whisking matcha efficiently and comfortably.
Shape: Rounded base with gently flared sides
Spout: Integrated pouring spout for controlled, mess-free serving
Function: The broad interior allows the bamboo whisk to move freely, helping dissolve matcha powder evenly and create a smooth, frothy texture
Approximate dimensions:
Diameter: ~12 cm
Height: ~7 cm
Capacity: ~400 ml
The light-coloured interior enhances visibility while whisking, making it easier to achieve a consistent foam.
Each bowl is handcrafted; natural variations in glaze, tone, and shape are part of its character.

Whisk Holder (Kusenaoshi)
Designed to support and preserve the shape of your bamboo whisk after use.
Shape: Rounded, tapered body with a stable base
Function: Encourages even drying, prevents bent prongs, and extends the lifespan of the whisk

Bamboo Whisk (Chasen)
A traditional tool used to whisk matcha powder with water.
Function: Aerates the matcha to create a fine foam and smooth mouthfeel
Tip: Whisk using a gentle “M” or “W” motion rather than stirring

Matcha Sifter
Used to sift matcha powder before whisking.
Function: Removes clumps and improves texture and resulting in a smoother cup

AIKO's Matcha Spoon
Used to measure matcha accurately.
Guide: One level matcha scoop measures approximately 1 g of matcha powder.

Why this set matters
Matcha is unique because the entire tea leaf is consumed. Using purpose-designed tools helps ensure:

  • Even dispersion of matcha powder
  • Smoother mouthfeel
  • Better foam formation
  • A more intentional, mindful preparation ritual

Each ceramic piece is individually finished, making every set subtly unique.

Care notes

  • Rinse bamboo whisk with water only (do not use soap)
  • Dry whisk on the holder after each use
